[The Awards]
Welcome to the largest security awards event

Once a year, the security industry gathers together to celebrate and raise the profile of the Australian IT Security, Cyber, and Protective Security industry to inspire young women and men to consider a career in this sector.

We do this by honouring their accomplishments, value, and contributions to the Australian market and giving the recognition they deserve.

Source2Create Pty Ltd is the Producer and Organiser of the Australian Women in Security Awards.

AWSN is the Official Partner of the Australian Women in Security Awards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We highly encourage nominations for all categories. Once you have nominated, the individual or company you will have to complete the nomination questions themselves in order to be eligible for the award.

We accept self-nominated and third party entries for both organizations and individuals.

You can nominate here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MK856HH

You’ll find the list here. There are 14 categories you could be eligible for.

Nominations will close on the 31st July 2021 at 11:59pm for the Australian Women in Security Awards.

  1. Security professionals must be eligible to enter and may be nominated by either a client, colleague or themselves.

  2. Nomination applications must be completed via our online awards platform and include, nominee and nominator details and the answer to the category questions.

  3. Judging panel members independently review and score nominations against the selection criteria.

  4. Five finalists in each category are determined based on points awarded.

  5. If judging panel members are in disagreement or scores are tied, finalists’ nominations will be reassessed by additional judging panel members to determine a winner.

  6. Winners are announced and presented at the awards ceremony. Winners will be published online and widely promoted.

This year we have put together a series of questions for each category to allow you to further support and streamline the whole process from nomination through to Judging panel reviews giving your nomination a equal chance.

Yes – as long as you are applicable via our criteria, you are able to enter multiple categories.

You don’t, but it gives the person you are nominating a great chance. The judges score your nomination based on each individual question, so it is important that you consider each question carefully and provide a detailed response.

Yes, nominees from previous years, including finalists may re-enter, but winners cannot re-enter for the same category that they won.

Yes only the judges see it. Then as a finalist your nomination will be written in a succinct paragraph for the host to read out if you win of which you will be able to approve first.

Actually it is recommended that you absolutely self-nominate!  It is anonymous, only the organisers will know.  It makes it SO much easier to complete the nomination as you have all the information required … Too often we receive inadequate nomination applications and we can only assess what we receive! You will submit a far better quality application if you complete it yourself…

If you are a finalist, you will be notified via the email address and phone number provided on the nomination form.

Alongside that we post several social media posts announcing finalists as well.

The finalists get announced on 27th September 2021.

Winners are announced at the Australian Women in Security Awards presentation ceremony on 8th December 2021.

Judges are selected from a pool of talented and extremely experienced security industry leaders. Each one is asked to declare any interests they have such as former colleagues or employers so that the judging process is carried out fairly.

All judging panel members must declare any relationship with the nominee, either professional, personal or otherwise.  Source2Create will then reallocate the category to a replacement judging panel member for assessment and scoring against the selection criteria.

Early Bird Tickets (purchased before May 20th) are AU$150 Ex GST

General Admission (purchased after 20th May) are AU$200 Ex GST

Each of the judges ranks the entries in order of preference. The winner will be the entry with most 1st places. If these are tied then the nominees will be given to 3 tiebreaker judges to score on, and in these situations we will also have Highly Commended awards given.  If there is still a tie then the Producer and Partner will have a casting vote.

If there is only 1 entry for a category then judges will be asked to recommend whether any award should be made or not.

  1. Glory, wide promotion & bragging rights…oh plus the coveted crystal award and certificate of achievement.

  2. All winners will be interviewed and featured across social media and Women in Security Magazine.

  3. All winners, highly commended,  and finalists will receive the promotional ‘winner’ or ‘finalist’ graphic & logo.
